Operation Cryptic Fall (Alien Abduction, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Gentlesophs, I am your host, the Kid With A Pen, and welcome to XCOM:  War Interminable - my playthrough of XCOM:  Enemy Unknown, with the Enemy Within expansion, the Operation Slingshot DLC, and most importantly the Long War mod.  Links to all of these can be found on the "What is XCOM:  War Interminable?" page below this post.
Today, we have an Abduction mission in Rio.  The aliens don't seem to be going after their world-famous beaches, but rather a courthouse of some kind.  It looks like law enforcement tried to intervene, but were outmatched by the aliens.

So, let's get started!  Our team on this mission is:
Our rocketeer, Savolainen
Our first special contributor rookie, Brienne Frost
Our infantry and Patreon contributor, Rascal
Rookie Luthuli
Our scout, Tat
our other infantry, Trips
Rookie Gupta
And our squad leader, medic and Patreon contributor Lynne "Vixen" Triplett
The squad breaches in the first turn.  No contact.  Savolainen steadies a rocket just in case.
Next turn, the squad breaks into teams.  Trips' team - including Frost and Tat - take the upper level while Vixen's team - Rascal, Gupta, Luthuli, and Savolainen - take the ground floor.  Savolainen steadies another rocket.
Vixen moves up, and contact!  Three Thin Men!
Gupta hits the one still in the courthouse.
Tat hits the one hiding behind the pillar.
Rascal finishes off the Thin Man still in the courthouse.
Luthuli kills the Thin Man outside the door.
The rest of the squad overwatches.
Frost hits a Seeker on overwatch.
Oh, and by the way:  Contact!  Three Seekers!
In my turn, Frost kills the Seeker she hit on overwatch.
Meanwhile, Trips rips the other Seeker a new one...
...and Luthuli gets the kill!
Tat misses the last Thin Man.
Savolainen steadies aim again...
...which is a good thing, because there's Floaters nearby.  They haven't spotted us yet, but we still need to be ready.
The last Thin Man misses Savolainen.
That said, PFC Gupta's shooting isn't particularly hot, either.
Tat gets holo-targeting up with his pistol...
...giving Frost a hit...
...and Trips the kill!
Savolainen, his services still not yet required, steadies aim once more.
Rascal sits tight as our sole overwatch.
Contact!  Three Floaters!  They've started shooting!
Gupta's hit!  Medic!

This is one of those things that can happen if you have the Itchy Trigger Tentacle second wave option enabled - an entire pod can come in shooting.  Fortunately, Gupta's only hit, not dead.
Savolainen responds with some C-4-fueled revenge of his own, and takes out the entire pod in one swell foop.
However, that didn't end the mission.  There's still someone out there.  Tat reloads his laser SMG.
Frost also reloads.  This could get messy.
Meanwhile, Vixen moves in and patches Gupta up.
The rest of the squad overwatches.
Remember that third Seeker?  That wasn't a typo.
Instead, it is merely a statistic, thanks to sheer volume of overwatch fire.
Op success!
Promotions for everyone!  Welcome back!
We got a pretty decent haul, too!
Brazil is grateful for our efforts.
Anyways, now that we have a repair bay, we can now get to repairing things.  It'll be three days before we can get our fourth laser carbine back.
Rascal made Sergeant, and with his overwatch build, he needs Suppression.
Tat made Corporal and gained Low Profile and the nickname "Alpha."  A unit with Low Profile counts half cover as full cover.  An excellent perk if you need good sight lines and also don't want to get shot in the face.
Savolainen made Lance Corporal and got HEAT Warheads.  HEAT Warheads boosts the damage that his rockets and grenades do to robotic enemies.  It is basically the only option for rocketeers, although an argument could be made for Ranger.
Luthuli becomes an Assault.  His aim's not great, but his move is.
Frost becomes a Sniper.  She has amazing aim for a rookie, and pretty good mobility.  Were it not for her sub-par HP, she'd make a fair crit-spam Infantry.
Gupta also becomes an assault, due to poor aim and good mobility.
Anyways, back to the Hologlobe!
Australia wants alloys!  Take 'em!
Argentina wants weapon fragments!  You're welcome to them!
Brazil wants Sectoid corpses!  We don't really need 'em anymore!
Dr. Vahlen's team has finished their research into alien computers.  The possibilities are endless!
Vahlen, I find Shen's ideas of cybernetically enhanced troops fascinating.  Get to figuring out how they'll work!
A satellite uplink is completed!
We have another UFO over Mexico.  Peanuts, bring it down!
Peanuts engages the UFO...
...and it gets away.
On the other hand, the alien containment facility is complete.  Maybe on our next mission we'll be able to capture some-
Damn.  Aliens are attacking Shanghai.

This is the second Terror mission we've had, and the first was in Shenzhen.  If the Triad's trying to deal in alien artifacts...

No.  There's no way the Terror attacks are connected to Chilong's discovery.  That would be the sort of thing that UFO coverup conspiracy theorists would think.

Then again, we are running a top-secret international military task force that drops in at sites of reported alien activity and makes off with all the evidence...
However, let's decide who's going to come on this mission.  Firstly, we're taking Scooby, carrying the usual medic loadout.
Plunder and Zilch are our infantry for this op, with the standard gear.
We'll need Boom Boom's firepower on this one (it doesn't help that our only other rocketeer is a fatigued Lance Corporal).
Checkmate's still the best shot we've got, so he's definitely coming along.
Chilong's bringing the Arc Thrower, in case we run into something like Floaters or Thin Men.  You know, something we can actually capture.
And Caper and Geronimo are both toting flashbangs in case we get swarmed by Chryssalids.
Strike One has reached the Terror site.
Wow.  Operation Patient Pyre?  That's not ominous at all...
